During an earnings call, Take-Two Interactive (the parent company of Rockstar Games) has unveiled that Grand Theft Auto V has sold over 85 million copies since its launch in 2013.
This now makes Grand Theft Auto V the third best-selling game of all time with Minecraft having the #2 spot and Tetris still reining the #1 spot. Grand Theft Auto V still holds the record as the fastest selling media title of all time, having hit the $1 billion mark in three days after launch.
The earnings call also reported that Grand Theft Auto: Online had one of its best quarters but no numbers were given. Overall, Take-Two revenue for the quarter came to $443.6 million, a major jump compared to the earnings from last year.
Grand Theft Auto V was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late 2013 followed by a Next-Gen release in 2014 and a PC release in 2015. The game has been highly praised by critics as one of the greatest games while also having become the fastest selling media title of all time.
