As the year comes to an end, it’s time to look back at the best games of 2018. These are the titles that stood out for their outstanding experience, pushing gaming to its limit or reminding us all why gaming is awesome.

10. Fortnite and PUBG (Mobile Version)

Both Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battleground have defined the concept of Battle Royale since 2017 but now they have brought the fun to the mobile device. Everything that has made both games great has been brought over to the mobile device with very little compromise to the quality. Now friends could battle each other either during the commute to work or while sitting on the toilet.

9. Far Cry 5

The fifth game in the series attempts to break from tradition to create a new experience and it pays off. Gone are the annoying tower missions and instead one has to simply explore the world of Hope, Montana. Players take on the role of a Hope County Deputy he must fight to retake the town back from a sinister cult.

8.  Monster Hunter World

After a long wait, Capcom has finally brought its iconic fantasy adventure to the Eight Generation and it was worth it. Players are tasked with leading their team to explore a new world. With its massive world and verity of creatures that populate it, Monster Hunter: World is the kind of fantasy experience that gamers have always wanted.

7. Evasion

This is VR’s answer to Destiny, a multiplayer shooter that has players work together while exploring a new world. Players pick one of several character classes then work together to overcome a series of objectives. The only difference between Evasion and Destiny is that this game is actually fun to play.

6. Evangelion

Based on the most iconic and influential anime series, this mobile adaptation attempts to retell the classic story. Players will take control of their favorite Evangelion and battle the Angels in an attempt to save humanity from extinction.

5. Dead Cells

Dead Cells attempts to redefine the Metroidvania while also demonstrating that rogue like games are not a gimmick. It succeeds at doing both of these. Players must escape a living castle by working their way across the ever changing world. This is a game that makes gamers use everything they have and develop new tactics based on the situation.

4. Spider-Man

The video game adaptation of the iconic hero is one of two reasons a gamer should have gotten a PlayStation 4 in 2018. Players take on the role of a more seasoned Spider-Man who must bring down a shadow organization trying to fill the criminal void after the downfall of Wilson Fisk. For superhero and Marvel fans, this is the best Spider-Man game ever.

3. God of War

This is the other reason why one should have gotten a PlayStation 4 in 2018. Players take on the role of a much older Kratos who is tasked with fulfilling the last wish of his deceased wife of having her ashes spread at the highest peak of Midgard. To accomplish this, he must travel the world of Norse mythology with his son.

2. Super Smash Bros.

Once a year, Nintendo will release that one game that should be everyones reason for wanting to get their Nintendo console. This year it’s going to be the Switch version of Super Smash Bros. This installment has one of the largest collection of characters and worlds not just from Nintendo but all across the gaming world. This is no longer a tribute to Nintendo but one for all of gaming.

1. Red Dead Redemption 2

The most highly anticipated and most acclaimed title of 2018 has earned its place as the best game of the year. Set in the West during the turn of the century, players take on the role of Arthur Morgan as he and the Van der Linde Gang struggle to collect enough money so they can retire as the age of the outlaw comes to an end.

  1. Red Dead Redemption 2 is overrated, SpiderMan should have taken the top spot. It was the best game of 2018. Also why is Far Cry 5 on the list? That game was totall crap!
