Masters of Doom is the insightful look into how iD Software changed pop-culture forever and now John Romero is personally selling a copy of the book on eBay.

Romero is selling one of his copies of the acclaimed book with the starting bid being $10 + $5 for shipping. Currently there are 32 bids as of June 11 with the highest offer being $102.56 while the auction will end on June 14 at 2:32 pm PT.  The book is not signed but who ever wins the auction can request to have it autographed.

The announcement was of the auction was made by Romero via Twitter when he posted:

Masters of Doom: How Two Guys Created an Empire and Transformed Pop Culture by David Kushner examines how the team at iD Software created their ground breaking masterpiece and the impact it had on pop-culture. Most of the book focuses on the dynamic relationship between John Carmack and John Romero.

John Romero is a pioneer in the gaming world having co-founded id Software in the 90’s alongside John Carmack and Tom Hall. His gaming credits include work on Wolfenstein 3DDoom and Quake just to name a few while also coining the multiplayer term “deathmatch”.

In 2015; he established Romero Games Ltd., an independent game studio located in Galway, Ireland. Their first title, Gunman Taco Truck was released in January 2017 and it was highly praised by critics along with gamers.

  1. I guess Romero is so desprate for cash he is whiling to pawn a copy of a book he is in just for some beer mony. Sad how the mighty has fallen
