It has only been a few days since its premier on Netflix, but Neon Genesis Evangelion has been dominating the internet to the point that even Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX, has expressed his fascination with the series.

Musk expressed his admiration for the series in a Tweet that included a quote and a short clip:

The quote Musk is tweeting was said by Yui Ikari (the mother of Shinji Ikari and the wife of Gendo Ikari) in the final episode. Following the tweet, fans responded with either Evangelion memes or shared their thoughts on the Netflix remaster. This has not been the first time he has shared his admiration for the Neon Genesis Evangelion as he has Tweeted about the series numerous times in the past.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is hailed as one of the greatest anime’s for its complex themes along with the realistic depiction of depression and PTSD. Set 15 years after cataclysm attack, the series follows Shinji as he is recruited by his father to pilot an Evangelion into combat against alien creatures dubbed Angels.

Elon Musk is a Tech Industry icon who helped create PayPal in the early 90’s, while co-founding Tesla Motors and SpaceX in the mid 2000’s. Along with his former PayPal colleges such as Peter Thiel and Max Levchin, he is credited with the re-emergence of consumer-focused tech companies.
