During Gamescom 2026, NEKCOM Games unveils a new trailer for Showa American Story.

Showa American Story – gamescom In-Game Trailer showcases the world through in-game moments while “The Sky of the 21st Century” plays over it. At the same time, we are introduced to a number of characters while getting a better understanding of the combat mechanics. You can check out the trailer here:

Showa American Story is an action RPG set in an alternative 1980s in which Japan’s economy becomes so powerful that its influence and culture take over America. The story follows Chouko, a stuntwoman who heads to Neo Yokohama (formerly Hollywood) with her sister. Along the way, she’s ambushed and left for dead, but miraculously survives, only to awaken in a world devastated by a zombie outbreak.

Additional details about Showa American Story will be announced in the future. No launch date has been set, but NEKCOM Games aims to launch the game sometime in 2026 or 2027 for the PC and PlayStation 5. The game is currently available to wishlist on Steam.

Gamescom 2026 runs from August 26th to August 30th at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. It’s the largest video game trade show, bringing studios and developers from around the world to showcase their upcoming titles.
