First Event on October 23rd, 2026

Kin-Yoobi Con has announced Nexus!, a new monthly esports event at the S.D.E.S. Portuguese Hall in Union City, with the first one set for Friday, October 23rd, 2026. The event is being hosted in partnership with BayAreaMADHouse and Game-Zone Recreation.

Nexus! #1 will take place on October 23rd with doors opening at 6 PM and the tournament starting at 7:30 PM and concluding around midnight. Attending the event is free, while tournament registration is $10 plus a $5 entry fee per tournament. The games featured for the event are Tekken 8, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. Registration to sign up has opened.

Rules of Nexus!

The rules for all games call for a double elimination format. Players must check in when Bracket Runners call their matches or risk disqualification, and must bring a wired PlayStation 5 compatible controller. Hardware macros are banned, and pausing forfeits the round. Coaching is limited to 30 seconds between games. Collusion and alt accounts may result in a ban. Each tournament will also have its own rules specifically for that game. Winners of each tournament will receive a mystery prize.

What to Expect at Nexus!

Besides an esports tournament, Nexus! #1 will also feature vendors, indie games, and artists with tables set up throughout the night. Artist/vendor and indie gamedevs who want to register should email 2009grz@gmail.com. Guests and participants are invited to cosplay, and the cosplayer who goes the furthest in each tournament will get an additional mystery prize.

The next Nexus! events will be on November 20th and December 18th.
