IO Interactive has announced that Hitman III is in the works and is set to launch in early 2021. The first official trailer was showcased at the PlayStation 5 reveal event (Check It Out).

Hitman III is set to launch sometime in January 2021 for all major consoles and the PC. This includes both current generation (PS4 and Xbox One) along with next generation consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X). The story will once again follow Mr. 47 and Lucas Grey attempts to bring down Providence.

IO Interactive has confirmed that Hitman III will serve as a platform for the trilogy. This will make it possible for players to transfer over their progress and unlockables from Hitman 2. Players will also get to play all past levels and missions from the previous titles.

It has also been announced that the third entry will be self-published by IO Interactive, a departure from past titles. Hitman was published by Square Enix while Hitman 2 was published by WB Interactive. The series use to be published by Eidos before it was purchased by Square Enix. In a press release that was made available, CEO of IOI Hakan Abrak has stated,

“This game will be self-published by IOI and will come directly from us to our passionate fanbase. The entire IOI team is ready and determined to deliver a pinnacle Hitman experience.”

Hitman III will be the eighth game is the series and the third entry in the reboot trilogy. The series is a stealth action experience that has players take on the role of Mr. 47. The game gives players the task of assassinating a target using what ever methods they wish while stealth and strategy are highly encouraged.
