In a press release, Square Enix wants to take gamers back to the when the story started following the success of NieR: Automata. Even though Automata was a hit, past titles in the series have been cult hits (both the Drakengard titles and NieR). This remaster aims to give new fans a proper introduce to the series while also celebrating its 10th Anniversary.

At the moment, the game has no ESRB rating and no release date has been set. More information will be made available in the coming months.

The NieR series is a spin-off to the Drakengard series as it follows an alternative ending. In the fifth ending, Caim and Angelus travel through time to battle a monster only to be killed by a fighter jet. This introduces magic to the modern world and sets the foundation for the apocalypse that follows.
