It has only been a week since California fully reopened and already several conventions have announced that they will host a live event this year. The latest to join the list is Sac Gamers Expo 2021, which has confirmed it will be a live event.
Sac Gamers Expo 2021 will take place at the at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center (5min away from California State University, Sacramento) from December 18th to December 19th. This will also be the first time it has been a two-day event. The announcement was made in the following post:
Currently, none of the events, vendors and attractions have been announced but that will change in the months leading up to the convention. No guests have been announced but the team is taking suggestions from the community (so long as it’s video game related). Registration and ticket sales are expected to open in the coming weeks.
It was only three months ago that a good number of conventions and expos cancelled or postponed their live event due to the ongoing pandemic. FanimeCon and E3 cancelled their live event and went all digital. San Diego Comic Con pushed their live event to a later date in 2021. SiliCon with Adam Savage and SacAnime Summer 2021 are set to be a live event (but that could change should there be a spike in cases).
As of June 21st, 59.7% of the California’s population has received their first dose of the vaccine while states have lifted most economic restrictions.
Sac Gamers Expo is one of the largest gaming conventions in the Sacramento area. The event brings together retro game vendors, industry icons and leaders of the communities indie game industry. We covered Sac Gamers Expo 2019 and you could checkout the highlights from that event. During the event, I also picked up some retro games and played some amazing indie titles.
