According to Sony, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is responsible for the majority of PlayStation VR playing sessions.
Resident Evil 7 was one of the first AAA VR titles released and Sony has confirmed that it was responsible for the majority of PlayStation VR playing sessions.
According to a profile of the PlayStation VR by Engadget, Sony saw an increase in VR activity following the release of the game. Based on the data collected by Sony, the average session for most VR titles was 25 minutes while the average session for Resident Evil 7 would be an hour.
In the same article, a Sony representative had stated,
“When Resident Evil 7: Biohazard launched earlier this year, the average amount of time PSVR users spent playing doubled.”
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is the eleventh game in the series and the first main entry to be played from a first-person perspective. The story follows Ethan Winters to search for his missing wife at an abandon plantation populated by a family infected with a deadly plague.
Both the Not a Hero and End of Zoe DLC’s are set to be released in December along with a Gold Edition of the game. 8Bit/Digi wrote a review for both the standard game for the PS4 and the PlayStation VR version.
