Neon Genesis Evangelion: Ultimate Edition is a special Blu-ray box set of the series along with Evanelion Death (True)2 and The End of Evangelion. The set will include the subbed along with the original dubbed version of the series in a 7 disc collection. Also included is a booklet along with several artwork, fan merchandise and promotional material.
The box set is set to be released on December 8th 2001 with the GKIDS store currently accepting pre-orders.
This announcement is welcoming to fans of the series who have wanted to own it on DVD and Blu-ray. Neon Genesis Evangelion has been out of print while DVD collections over $500 USD.
Set 15 years after cataclysm attack, Neon Genesis Evangelion follows the story of Shinji as he is recruited by his father to pilot an Evangelion into combat against creatures dubbed “Angels”. The series has been highly praised for deconstructing the mecha genre while also exploring complex themes that explore the meaning of individuality and personal choice.
The original series ran from 1995 to 1996 while the Rebuild saga (a retelling of the series) premiered in 2007. Due to disputes in copyright, the series hadn’t been broadcasted since the early 2000’s until Netflix acquired the streaming rights in 2018.
