Koei Tecmo has announced The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother, the first video game adaptation of the acclaimed series, set to launch in early 2027.

The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother will launch on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC via Steam, and PlayStation 5. No firm release date has been set, but Koei Tecmo is targeting early 2027. The game is currently available to wishlist on Steam. Check out the trailer to learn more:

Based on the hit anime and light novel series, players step into the role of Maomao as she investigates the Five Mysteries and Five Curses, two chains of strange phenomena and conspiracies causing chaos throughout the rear palace, the pleasure district, and the streets of the capital. During her investigation, she is pulled into a case that will uncover a shocking secret capable of shattering the imperial court.

Alongside Maomao, the game will feature familiar characters such as Jinshi, Gyokuyou, and Lihua. Gameplay focuses on gathering clues and analyzing them against the world around Maomao to unravel the central mysteries. Additional details about the story and new characters will be revealed at the 2026 Tokyo Game Show.

The Apothecary Diaries is a historical mystery drama set in a world inspired by Tang Dynasty-era China. The story follows Maomao, an apothecary who is kidnapped and sold into servitude at the Imperial Palace. When palace officials discover her knowledge of medicine and her literacy, she is promoted to a higher role and tasked with solving medical mysteries.

The series has been widely praised, with Season 2 taking home four awards at the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Best Drama and Best Director.

The entire series is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll and Hulu. Season 3 is set to premiere on October 2, 2026.
