During E3 2021, Koie Tecmo announced that a remake of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is in the works and it’s coming to all current-gen consoles.
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black remaster will be available for the PlayStation 5, 4, Xbox One, Series X, PC and Nintendo Switch. At the moment there is no set release date but it will be sometime in 2021 (but a 2022 release date is possible). Check out this trailer to learn about the game:
News of the remaster has also sparked interest in the entire series, which has been dormant. The series has been praised by horror fans while Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly has been hailed as one of the best horror games of all time. Many are hoping that its success would lead into more remasters / remakes or a new entry in the series.
The Fatal Frame series is a supernatural horror survival that has players try to escape a haunted location using the Camera Obscura (a camera built to pacify ghosts). Fatal Frame was released for the PlayStation 2 back in 2001. Maiden of Black was the last game in the series and it was originally released for the Nintendo Wii back in 2015.
