An Insight for Bay Area Gamers
“Fifth Gen Isn’t Pokemon”, a popular panel at FanimeCon and a staple of Bay Area anime conventions, will be live streamed during the weekend.
Following the announcement that “Cthulhu for President!” will be live streamed, the Foundation for the Preservation of Gen 1 Pokemon has announced that they too will be live streaming, “Fifth Gen Isn’t Pokemon”.
Fifth Gen Isn’t Pokemon – Virtual Fanime 2020 will take place on May 24th from Noon to 1pm (via Twitch). This will be a digital version of their iconic panel that has been presented at numerous anime conventions. It looks into why Fifth Generation of Pokemon (the ones that premiered in Pokémon Black and White) are not legitimate.
Following the panel, viewers could join them for a live stream viewing of Jackie Chan Adventures (which they call the greatest anime). Fans are invited to share their thoughts or watch this timeless classic.
This is one of many digital events taking place during the weekend in the absence of FanimeCon. The CWF will be hosting a three day digital version Fanimania VII. BAR Con will host a digital concert on Friday (no anime but BYOB). FanimeCon was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
FanimeCon is one of the largest fan organized anime conventions and the next one will take place on the Memorial Day weekend in 2021. Check out some of the amazing cosplayers form the 2019 event.
Foundation for the Preservation of Gen 1 Pokemon is a panel group that is well known for taking hilarious jabs at fandom culture, anime and Pokemon. Among their most iconic panels are “Console Wars” and “We All Live in a Pokemon World”.
