Following an eventful and festive weekend, FanimeCon has confirmed that the 2024 event drew over 28,000 attendees.
According to the information provided by FanimeCon, the 2024 event drew over 28,000 attendees over the weekend. This is an increase of over 1,000 attendees when compared to the 2023 event. The numbers are based on passes sold prior to and during the event. These numbers also include the sale of day passes and the distribution of staff passes. It should be noted that this count does not include Fanime attendees who only participated in the festivities outside the convention center but did not purchase a pass.
While these numbers are still below pre-pandemic numbers, it shows that attendance is rebounding. According to estimates from Anime.com, Fanime had over 34,000 attendees in 2019 and 30,735 attendees in 2018. Such numbers are common among most fan organized conventions that have been able to continue after the pandemic.

Those who want to start planning for next year could start right away. Registration for FanimeCon 2025 will begin on June 20th starting at 12 pm PST. The announcement was made with the following Tweet:

Wow only 28,000 attendance! I’m surprised as Fanime didn’t feel so crowded compared to last year. If they bring back 24/7 game room than 2025 might be a good year for Fanime!
Not surprise given all the drama going on between bosses and staff. ParkCon is where the fun is at Fanime is just there for the cheap hotels!
Wow are those numbers accurate?
Fanime 2019 had over 30,000 and now its down to 28K. That is a massive drop!
If Fanime gets its act to together than maybe it could attract more than 28,000 people next year or in 2026. Right now it looks like they peaked and its going down hill until the leaders start listing to the staff.
