Crunchyroll has announced that they have partnered with Idris and Sabrina Elba to produce an original sci-fi anime series.

The partnership will have Green Door Pictures (Idris Elba studio) and Pink Towel Pictures (Sabrina Elba studio) develop an anime series for Crunchyroll. Under the working title of “Dantai”, it will be an Afro-futuristic series.

It will be set in a world in which the rise of biotechnology creates a gap between social-economic class lines. The story will follow two characters from either side of this divide as they are first pitted against each other before having to join forces. More information will become available in the future.

In a press release that was made available, Head of Development at Crunchyroll Sarah Victor, has stated,

“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Idris and Sabrina to develop this anime-inspired sci-fi epic. It is a privilege to work with such talented, creative partners and we look forward to bringing this exciting project to life.”
