Kit 9 Studios has posted its second development update of 2026 for The Coffin of Andy and Leyley, with some good news and bad news.

The July 2026 progress report delivered both good news and bad news for fans. The good news is that Kit 9 Studios is looking into hosting a Coffin of Andy and Leyley game jam. The bad news is that the game has been delayed due to legal issues. Kit 9 Studios has also released a new video that highlights a different part of the story:

Delay Due to Legal Matters

The Coffin of Andy and Leyley has been delayed due to legal issues involving bad actors in the fandom. Details about the matter have not been divulged yet. It has only been hinted that the issues regard fans using the IP in manners that cross the line into copyright infringement or selling bootlegged versions of the game. This speculation on the nature of the legal matter comes from two paragraphs in the progress report:

We will encourage fan-content by creating guidelines on using our IP, but it will also mean that our lawyers will enforce more carefully against bad actors who go outside of the permitted boundaries. The guidelines will be published once ready.

The team has also been thinking over the concept of a Coffin of Andy and Leyley inspired game jam. The idea is for original fan made works inspired by the themes, aesthetics, and setting of the game. It has been suggested that winners could get some cash and clout while the community gets new games to play. Nothing has been set yet, but the studio wants to hear what the fans think.

The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is a horror adventure game that blends elements of a psychological thriller with those of a dark comedy. The story follows siblings Andrew and Ashley Graves trying to survive a quarantine by taking drastic measures.

The game started as a project released on Itch.io before launching on Steam in Early Access. No launch date has been set, but the goal is to have a full launch sometime in 2026 or 2027.
