In response to a report that moments in Cyberpunk 2077 could trigger an epileptic seizure, CD Projekt Red has issued a warning for fans while working to resolve the problem.

The problem was brought to light by Liana Ruppert, Associated Editor at Game Informer. She reported having an epileptic seizure during her playthrough. A common trigger is rapid blinking lights of the red and white variety. Ruppert mentions that she is prone to epileptic seizures because of an injury she sustained when serving in the US Navy. The article is warning to players who might some experience and a call to action for CD Projekt Red to resolve this.

CD Projekt Red has responded by issue an epilepsy warning for anyone who plans to play Cyberpunk 2077 at launch. They have announced they are working on a long term solution to resolve the issues. Ruppert has been praised for bring awareness to the problem and warning others. CD Projekt Red has also been commended for taking swift action to resolve it. However, anti-media trolls have started a harassment campaign by sending Ruppert videos that could trigger an epileptic seizure. Such tactics have been used in the past against journalists. The most infamous example being the attack on Kurt Eichenwald (with the alleged attacker facing charges of aggravated assault).

Cyberpunk 2077 is a video game adaptation of the hit table-top RPG series by Mike Pondsmith. Players take on the role of a mercenary as they are dragged into a conflict between the powers of Night City.
