This Saturday is Free Comic Book Day, a national day dedicated to promoting independent comic book stores across America while also introducing new readers to the world of comics. To get everyone prepared for Free Comic Book Day, here is a quick guide for all the Bay Area comic book stores that will be honoring the holiday.

As an added bonus, this years Free Comic Book Day is also on Star Wars Day. Do expect a lot of Star Wars Day events to take place.

(Note: This is not a complete list since not all of them will be on Twitter or Facebook.)h

No Free Comic Book Day is ever complete without a stop to where it all began, Flying Colors Comics in Concord. This holiday was the brain child of owner Joe Field, who proposed the idea in the August 2001 issue of Comics & Games Retailer magazine. So basically one could say Free Comic Book Day is a Bay Area holiday at heart.
