Gamers were stunned at the Game Awards with From Software announcing that Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is in the works. Making this the first entry in the iconic mech series in almost 10 years. 

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is set on Rubicon 3 centuries after a catastrophe transformed the planet into a hot zone. Now it’s being torn apart by a war between major corporations and resistance forces. Players take on the role of a mercenary who has arrived on the planet to find their fortune only to get involved in the conflict.

Not much has been announced about the gameplay, but one could expect a classic setup. Players will take control of their mechs in battle while also having the option to upgrade them. Combat is expected to be more fast-paced, allowing players to utilize the 3D environment. 

More information about the game will be announced in the future. The game is set to launch for the PlayStation and Xbox consoles along with the PC sometime in 2023.  

Armored Core is a mecha series by From Software that follows a mercenary pilot during a conflict in a post-apocalyptic future. The conflicts usually involve major corporations and tyrannical warlords. The first game in the series was released for the PlayStation back in 1997.
