Anime Destiny 2020 has been cancelled due to the restrictions on the use of campus facilities during the Fall Semester. These are the guidelines put in place by the University of California due to the pandemic. The event was to take place on November 15th at the Pauley Ballroom (located in the MLK Student Union) at the University of California, Berkeley.
The announcement was made in the following post:
Hello everyone, Anime Destiny 2020 has been CANCELLED due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions of campus facility use during the fall semester. We do have virtual events planned for both summer and the fall semester so stay tuned!
There is no confirmation if the convention will be converted into an all digital event.
It now joins CarrierCon and Powerhouse Comic Con that have announced their cancellation. Other events have been pushed back to a later date or deferred to 2021. Those that have not been cancelled are committed to their scheduled. It should be noted that dates and status may change given what will happen during the pandemic.
Anime Destiny is a one day event organized by Cal Animage Alpha, the anime club of UC Berkeley. The event brings together local artists and dealers along with anime fans for a day of fun. Check out my coverage of the 2017 event to have an idea of what to expect.
