About Perfect Blue

Perfect Blue is a psychological thriller that follows Mima Kirigoe, a member of the fictional J-pop idol group CHAM! who leaves the stage to become an actress. Her first major role comes in Double Bind, a gritty TV crime drama, and her agency pushes her to shed her squeaky-clean image with a disturbing assault scene and a nude photo shoot. Soon, threatening letters arrive, and a fan website called “Mima’s Room” begins posting diary entries about her life in eerie detail. As people tied to her new career turn up murdered, Mima sees visions of her former idol self, and the line between reality and fantasy starts to dissolve.
