Robert Rodriguez, Rosa Salazar, and Jon Landau will be guests at Crunchyroll Expo 2018.
Looks like the best news has been saved for last as it has been confirmed that the team behind Alita: Battle Angel are among the guests. It has been confirmed that Robert Rodriguez, Rosa Salazar, and Jon Landau will be guests during Crunchyroll Expo.
Robert Rodriguez is a filmmaker who (along side Quentin Tarantino) ushered a new era of independent film while his early work has become a staple of 90’s cinema. He is best known for directing the Mariachi Trilogy (consisting of El Mariachi, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico), From Dusk Till Dawn, Planet Terror, Sin City (co-directed with Frank Miller), Machete, and the Spy Kids series. His other notable works include directing a segment of Four Rooms along with writing and producing Predators.
Rosa Salazar is an actress who is currently set to play the titular heroin of Alita: Battle Angel. Her other notable works include Nurse Maria in American Horror Story: Murder House, Brenda in the Maze Runner series, and Copperhead in Batman: Arkham Origins.
Jon Landau is a film producer known for his collaboration on many of James Cameron’s projects. He was the producer for Titanic, Avatar and will serve in the same role for Alita: Battle Angel.
They will be joining Olympian and Yuri!!! on Ice fan Johnny Weir, writer Matthew Luhn, director Atsushi Nishigori, Head of Studio at Crunchyroll and the President of Women in Animation Marge Dean, animation director Atsuko Ishizuka, Clifford Chapin along with Luci Christian from My Hero Academia, voice actress Colleen Clinkenbeard while the event will be hosted by Victoria Holden. More guests will be announced in the days leading up to Crunchyroll Expo 2018.
Crunchyroll Expo 2018 will take place during the weekend of September 1 until September 3rd (Labor Day Weekend) at the San Jose Convention Center. More information will be reported when its made available but you could read our coverage of Crunchyroll Expo 2017.
Alita: Battle Angel is a live action adaptation of the acclaimed manga and anime series that is being directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by James Cameron. The film is set to be released on December 21st, 2018 and will star Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Mahershala Ali along with Jennifer Connelly.
