Mega Cat Studios and the ZPF Team have announced that the Steam Next Fest demo for ZPF will be available on February 24th.

ZPF is a retro-inspired horizontal shooter from the developer of Super XYX and Tänzer. The demo will showcase the game’s action-packed gameplay and introduce players to its diverse worlds. During the playthrough, three distinct realms will be featured, each with stunning 16-bit effects and layers of parallax scrolling that bring the game’s worlds to life.

Players will also have the chance to pick from three different characters during the demo session. Each unique character will offer a different playstyle along with a killer soundtrack. They are:

  • Knight: Hailing from the mystical realms, they are a valiant defender of a land under siege by goblin hordes.
  • Gladius: Emerging from the far reaches of space, they are humanity’s last hope against a relentless alien threat.
  • Gold: Emerging from the shadows of a dystopian future, they are a mercenary driven by the promise of wealth in a corrupt, neon-lit city.

Among the other aspects of the game include going head-to-head against hordes of challenging bosses. There will be over six levels based on numerous fantasy and science-fiction worlds. Players will have their skills tested with an engaging and satisfying scoring system that rewards boldness.

The demo will be available on February 24th starting at 9am EST / 6am PST.

ZPF is set to launch sometime in May 2025 for the Sega Genesis. It will be followed by a launch on PC, Xbox consoles, and the Nintendo Switch.
