After weeks of rumors and speculations, Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake is coming soon.

Following the success of the Resident Evil 2 remake, fans have been asking Capcom to remake Nemesis. After E3 2019, the idea of the remake had been hinted had been floating around. Given all that was presented, it was no longer if a remake will be released but when. Everything changed when several concept art was leaked early this month.

The announcement was made during PlayStation’s State of Play on December 10th. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake is set to be released on April 3rd 2020 for all major consoles and the PC.

Return to Raccoon City

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis continues the story of the Raccoon City outbreak by having payers take on the role of Jill Valentina. Set 24 hours before and after the events of Resident Evil 2, the story follows Jill as she struggles to escape the nightmare. Making matter worst is she is being purist by Nemesis, a bio-weapon deployed to hunt the surviving members of STARS.

The remake will be a complete overhaul with new level designs and layouts while introducing new areas to explore. Every character has also undergone a redesign that differs from either the original or their appearance in the Resident Evil remake. It could also be speculated that new gameplay or combat mechanics will also be added.

Capcom has also confirmed that Resident Evil: Resistance will be the multiplayer component of the Resident Evil 3 remake. The multiplayer will have players working together to survive the outbreak. The game had been announced as Project Resistance during the summer with a closed beta. However there is confirmation if Mercenaries will make a return.

More information about the game will be announced in the coming months.

The original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was released for the PlayStation back in 1999. Unlike its predecessors, this was a radical departure as it introduced new mechanics that would be staples of the series. Check out my review of the Resident Evil 2 remake just to get an idea of what to expect.
