Steamforged Games has announced that they have partnered with Capcom to create a board game based on Resident Evil 2.

Following the success of the board game adaptation of Dark Souls, Steamforged Games plans to do the same thing with Resident Evil 2. They are currently going to start a Kickstarter camping to raise funds.

In a press release that has been made available, Creative Director and Co-founder of Steamforged Games Mat Hart has stated,

“It’s a privilege and an honor to be trusted to bring such an important video game to life as a board game. Resident Evil 2 helped to define its own genre of games and has created a lasting legacy in video game history. Steamforged has several Resident Evil super fans on the team and so we have a deep understanding of what makes RE such a compelling game experience; one that still has legions of fans around the world still playing the game nearly two decades after its release.

Capcom’s Marketing Director Antoine Molant also added,

“With the Resident Evil brand being one of Capcom’s most successful IP’s of all time we’re delighted to share our support for this exciting new release and are looking forward to seeing the end product from Steamforged Games”

Resident Evil 2 was the second game in the horror series and has been hailed as the best title in the series along with being one of the greatest horror games of all time. The game was first released in 1998 for the PlayStation then ported over to the PC, Nintendo 64, and Sega Dreamcast.

Capcom is currently working on a remake of Resident Evil 2 following a demand by fans for many years. Its unknown when the remake will be released at the moment.
