Nightdive Studios has announced that they have released a demo for their upcoming remake of System Shock.
Released on GOG and Steam, this demo gives fans a first look at how much the System Shock has changed. Players will explore the medical bay and find some weapons while battling several of SOHDAN creations. The remake aims to keep the games horror ascetics and story while updating the gameplay for new fans.
To celebrate the launch of the demo, Nightdive CEO Stephen Kick gave a live playthrough (via Shacknews Twitch channel). The session was followed by a Q&A session that allowed fans to ask about the game.
Even though no release date has been set, the target is sometime in late 2020. It’s expected for an official release date to be announced sometime in June.
The original System Shock was released in 1994 and was praised for its innovative gameplay along with its detailed world. A sequel was released in 1999 that was equally influential and innovative. The series also spawned two equally successful spiritual successors, Deus Ex and BioShock.
