NEKCOM Games has released a new trailer Showa American Story that showcases the game’s plot and gameplay elements.

Showa American Story | Official Trailer 2024 introduces gamers to an alternative 1980s in which Japan’s economy becomes so powerful that it surpasses the United States. This resulted in Japanese influence and culture taking over America.

The story follows Chouko, a stuntwoman who heads to Neo Yokohama (formerly Hollywood) with her sister. Along the way, she’s ambushed and left for dead, but miraculously survives, only to awaken in a world devastated by a zombie outbreak. Now, Chouko must navigate the treacherous Route 50, battling undead horrors as she searches for her sister—and the people who tried to kill her.

Gameplay is an RPG with a mix of third-person shooting and hack’n slash combat. At the same time, players are encouraged to explore the world of Showa America and how much the Japanese. There will also be mini-games, side quests and opportunities build up your character stats.

This announcement is also welcoming news as this is the first trailer for Showa American Story in two years while also properly highlighting many key aspects of the game.

Additional details about Showa American Story will be announced in the future. No launch date has been set but NEKCOM Games aims to launch the game sometime in 2025 for the PC and PlayStation consoles. The game is currently available to wishlist on Steam.
