It has been over 20 years since Max Payne was released and it redefined both story telling and the action genre. Fans will now be delighted to know that a remake of the first two games is the works.
In a partnership with Rockstar Games, Remedy Entertainment has announced that a remake of Max Payne along with Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne are in the works. Both remakes will be developed using the Northlight Engine. Both games are set to launch for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and the PC.
At the moment, no release date has been given and the project is in an early stage. One could expect a trailer and launch date to be announced sometime in 2024.
The original Max Payne was developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Rockstar Games. It was released in 2001 and it was highly praised by gamers and critics. Its success was followed by Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne which was launched in 2003. Max Payne 3 was developed and published by Rockstar and it was released in 2012.
The game follows Max Payne, who joins the DEA after the murder of his family. When he is framed for murder and his cover blown, he embarks on a vendetta against the mob. The sequel follows Payne in the aftermath of his vendetta while also dealing with his personal demons.
