MAGWest 2020 8Bit/Digi

Looks like it finally happen to MAGWest 2020. In response to the spike in COVID-19 cases, the live event is cancelled. Following the example of so many events, they have announces that it will be an all digital event.

MAGWest 2020 was originally set to take place during the weekend of September 18th at the Double Tree Hilton in San Jose. The event will now take place on the weekend of October 2nd as an all digital event (via Twitch).

Currently they are working to organize musical performances along with panels (with Q&A sessions). They are also planning to host several speed-run events and gaming tournaments. More information will be made available in the coming months.

With a new wave of infections, MAGWest joins numerous conventions that have been gone all digital. Fan conventions like SiliCon and Crunchyroll Expo have gone all digital for their 2020 event. Many have also chose to cancel their event and instead focus on panning for 2021.

MAGWest is the West Cost spin-off to MAGFeast, one of the largest video game music festivals. The event brings together video game industry insiders and composers along with video game themed performers.

  1. Honestly it’s for the best given how infections have spiked and many don’t feel safe going to large events. Hope to go back next year.
