Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana is reaching out to comic artist to participate in We Can Be Heroes.
Attention all Latinx comic creators who want to make a difference, Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana (MACLA) is reaching out for comic artist to participate in a new project, We Can Be Heroes.
In a collaboration with Baruch Porras Hernandez, We Can Be Heroes aims to spotlight five new LGBTQ Latinx superheroes created by those who participate. The winning artists will get to create a brand-new queer Latinx superhero with MACLA and receive an honorarium.
To enter; participants need to submit a 4-6 page prose short story featuring their own superhero creation along with a description. The character must be Latinx while the story must be related to the Chicano experience. However the characters can be a Spanish speaker, English speaker or bilingual. This project is open to anyone who is Latinx and identifies as part of the LGBTQ community.
Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana is a is an inclusive contemporary space dedicated to highlighting the Chicano experience through the arts. It was established in 1989 and they are locaed at 510 S 1st St. in San Jose.
