GKIDS has announced that they have acquired the North American rights to Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water and are planning a 4K restoration.

Created and directed by Hideaki Anno in collaboration with Hayao Miyazaki, Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water is fantasy series inspired by Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and the other works of Jules Verne. Set in 1889; the story follows Jean and Nadia who join forces with Captain Nemo to save the world from Emperor Neo and the Neo-Alantean’s. 

It has also been confirmed that a 4K restoration of the series is in the works with a 2022 release. At the moment, there is no word regarding the series digital distribution rights. Previously, the series was available to stream on HIDIVE until 2020. 

GKIDS is a media distributor that specializes in the theatrical and home media release of anime works. They are known for releasing and distributing the works of Studio Ghibli. In 2021; they were responsible for the first DVD release of Neon Genesis Evangelion since the early 2000s.
