A highlight of FanimeCon 2026 was the itasha car show, organized by Dreamscape with support from Senpai Squad. Attendees were invited to check out the vehicles on display and get photos with them throughout the weekend.

Car Show at FanimeCon 2026

The Car Show was organized in the South Hall, the big tent at the back of the convention center, and was open to FanimeCon guests from Saturday to Monday. Over 20 itasha cars were on display, giving motorists a chance to showcase their work and fandom while guests admired the craftsmanship. The Car Show also offered photo opportunities with the vehicles, as long as attendees respected the cars and the rules set by their owners.

Fandoms represented at the showcase included Azur Lane, Godzilla, Macross, KPop Demon Hunters, Hatsune Miku, and Genshin Impact, among others. Cars on display ranged from Mazdas and BMWs to classics like the Ford Pinto and modern builds like the Tesla Cybertruck. The biggest standout at the Car Show was the Cybertruck decorated in Super Dimension Fortress Macross decals.

FanimeCon 2026 took place during Memorial Day weekend from May 22 to May 25 at the San Jose Convention Center and surrounding venues. It is one of the largest fan-organized anime conventions in North America and one of the biggest events in San Jose. The convention is centered at the convention center, with additional events hosted at the San Jose Marriott, the Signia by Hilton San Jose, the DoubleTree by Hilton San Jose and the Plaza de César Chávez.

Dreamscape is a pop-up event that organizes events that mix cosplay gatherings with a car show. They have hosted events mostly in Newark and Fremont while also having a presence at other anime and pop-culture conventions.
