Crunchyroll is Bringing Akira to Blu-ray in March 2025

Fans of classic anime will be excited to learn that Crunchyroll has announced it’s bringing Akira to Blu-ray in March 2025.

Akira will be available on the Crunchyroll Store on March 4th. The set will include a 4K and Blu-Ray copy of the film. Among the special features are a collection of the official trailer, a storyboard collection, and sound clips. Fans will also have the option of enjoying the film in English or Japanese.

Akira is a cyberpunk anime set in the dystopian Neo-Tokyo. The story follows Kaneda, a biker gang leader, who is trying to save his friend, Tetsuo, after his psychic powers are awakened. This not only threatens the city but also the military government. It was released in 1988 and has been praised as one of the best films while also having a significant influence on pop culture.
