Following the success of its most recent event, BayCon has unveiled details about the upcoming 2024 convention. Among the key announcements are the date, theme, and venue selected for the event.
BayCon 2024 will take place from July 4th to July 7th at the Santa Clara Marriott. The theme for the 2024 event will be “Pure Imagination”, with details about what it means coming soon. Tickets are currently not for sale but that will change in the coming weeks.
The guest list features Bonnie Gordon as the Toastmaster, artist Elizabeth Leggett, author Ryka Aoki, and artist MariNaomi. More guests will be announced in the future.
Bonnie Gordon is an actress, musician, and professional TTRPG player. She is best known as the Ship’s Computer on Star Trek: Prodigy, Bico on Muhyo & Roji’s Bureau of Supernatural Investigation, and Silque in the Fire Emblem series. As a musician, she is half of the comedy music duo Library Bards.
Elizabeth Leggett is a distinguished artist renowned for specializing in science-fiction themed works and design. Her portfolio includes cover designs for numerous literary works and contributions to various publications. This has earned her numerous accolades, including two Hugo Awards for Best Fan Artist. Additionally, she has been nominated for the prestigious Chesley Award five times.
Ryka Aoki is an author who is best known for the novels He Mele a Hilo and Light From Uncommon Stars. Her other notable works include the poetry collection Seasonal Velocities and Why Dust Shall Never Settle Upon This Soul. Her work has earned her numerous accolades including Alex Award and Stonewall Book Award along with a Hugo nominee.
MariNaomi is an artist, author, and cartoonist. They are best known for the novel I Thought You Loved Me, Turning Japanese and Losing the Girl: Book 1. Their other notable works include the Life on Earth trilogy.
Bay Con is the longest running science fiction and fantasy fan conventions in the Bay Area. The event brings together writers, artist and enthusiasts for a weekend that explores ones imagination.
