In a partnership with Bay Area Film Events, the Balboa Theater will kick-off its triumphant return with GodzillaFest 2021.
With movie theaters set to open, the Balboa Theater will kick-off its triumphant return with GodzillaFest 2021. The event is made possible with the support of Bay Area Film Events.
GodzillaFest 2021 will be a two day event that will feature 10 kaiju films from Toho Studios that were made during the Showa Era (1954 to 1975). The films will be featured at the Balboa Theater in San Francisco from May 14th to May 15th. The event will also feature vendors and artists that will be available during the intermissions.
The event will also honor the 60th anniversary of Mothra, the film that introduced one of the most iconic kaiju’s (second only to Godzilla).

Guests must wear their masks at all times in the public areas and seating will be social distanced. Attendance will be at a max capacity of 50% (or how ever many is permitted at the time of the screening). Screenings will be staggered to prevent crowding in the lobby, and extra time will be allotted to allow for cleaning. Guests are also encouraged to be fully vaccinated before attending the event (but not required).
