Adam Savage booth

Silicon Valley Comic Con has announced that they have undergone some major changes, with the biggest being Adam Savage being prompted to the role of Creative Director.

The event has undergone a major rebranding with a new name (now called SiliCon) along with a new logo. The biggest change in leadership is Savage will take over in a role of Creative Director. The role previously was helmed by co-founder and tech pioneer, Steve Wozniak.

Adam Savage is a special effects and set designer who is best known for co-hosting MythBusters. Using his background, he has become a mentor to the cosplay community and is known to help cosplayers improve on their work. He has also been a guest at Silicon Valley Comic Con since the first show in 2016.

Wozniak will continue to be involved in SiliCon but in a limited capacity. In the official announcement, he has stated,

Adam has always been my favorite guest. We are so excited for him to officially lead the creative direction of SiliCon.

SiliCon 2020 will be from October 16 until the 18th at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. The event brings together the world of science and pop-culture for a festive weekend. For an idea of what to expect, check out my coverage of last years event.

  1. 2017 was the best Silicon Valley Comic Con after that it has gone down hill. Hopefully Adam Savage could make it unforgettable and better than San Diego Comic Con.
