Nightdive Studios has announced that it has renamed its remaster of System Shock 2 and that a launch date will be announced soon.

Nightdive Studios has rebranded its remaster as System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. The remaster will be available for major consoles and the PC. No launch date has been set but that information will be announced during GDC 2025. Additional details about the game and what fans could expect should become available during the event.

System Shock 2 is a direct sequel to the acclaimed horror game, introducing new gameplay elements. Set 42 years after the original, players control a soldier aboard the Von Braun, an FTL starship on its maiden voyage. After awakening from deep-space hibernation, they discover the ship overrun by a parasitic bioweapon that was engineered by S.H.O.D.A.N.

The game was released for PC in 1999 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest games of all time. It later inspired two spiritual successors, Deus Ex and BioShock.

A remake of the first game was released for the PC in 2023 followed by a console launch in 2024. Check out our review of the remake to have an idea about the series.
