After several years of rumors and speculation, Konami has officially confirmed that a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is in the works. The announcement was made during the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase.

In a short video, players are given a tour of the Tselinoyarsk jungle while getting a look at Snake. Renamed as Metal Gear Solid 𐤃: Snake Eater, the game is currently set to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive (but that could change). Check out the trailer to have an idea about the game:

No release date has been announced while additional details will become available in the future.

Konami has also confirmed that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is also in the works. This will be an HD version of Metal Gear Solid and the Substance versions of Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater. It will be available for the PS5 sometime in Fall 2023.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was the fifth game in the series and was released on the PlayStation 2 back in 2004. A prequel to the series set during the Cold War, it follows the rise of Big Boss during the events that would set the groundwork for the birth of The Patriots.

It has been hailed as the best game in the series, a defining title of the PS2 and one of the greatest games.
