Fans of classic kaiju films will be delighted to know that Godzillafest is returning to the Balboa Theater. The 2023 event will feature a screening of iconic films along with taking the moment to honor some anniversaries.

Godzillafest 2023 will take place from August 18th to the 20th. The event will feature 18 films from different eras of Godzilla and other kaiju films. Special guests for the weekend will be Tsutomu Kitagawa, the Suit actor who played Godzilla from 1998 to 2004. The event will also honor several films:

  • Godzilla vs. Megalon 50th Anniversary 
  • Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 30th Anniversary 
  • Pacific Rim 10th Anniversary

The Balboa Theater is an independent movie theater located at 3630 Balboa St, San Francisco. They are known for showing indie films, classic tiles, anime films, and new releases. They part of CinemaSF, a network of independent theaters that also includes the 4 Star Theater and Vogue Theater.
