What to Expect From Atari

One publisher that had a great deal to showcase during the 2026 Game Developers Conference was Atari. The iconic publisher had several of its upcoming titles available during special showcases as well as private events. They also held a special media session where their upcoming titles could be demoed, with developers on hand to answer questions.

During the 2026 Game Developers Conference, Atari had several of its upcoming titles available to try during a special session. I was able to play either a special demo or a full build of games scheduled to launch in 2026.

SiN: Reloaded

SiN: Reloaded is a remaster of the cult shooter set in a cyberpunk dystopian world. The story follows Colonel John R. Blade as he takes on Dr. Elexis Sinclaire, the CEO of SinTEK Industries. When she begins flooding the streets with a DNA altering drug, Blade must confront her army of genetically engineered mutants and the moral collapse she leaves behind. The remaster features enhanced visuals with HD textures, modernized controls, and the Wages of SiN extra mission pack. It also includes improved maps, achievements, and the option to switch between the remastered visuals and the original Gold version.

Nightdive Studios first announced the remaster in 2020, but a series of roadblocks and other projects delayed it until now, when resources were finally dedicated to fulfilling that promise. Thus, they were at GDC to showcase what players could expect. During my playthrough, I experienced the first stage of the remaster while the team guided me through my playthrough. The mission began during a bank robbery, and I arrived in a gunship, blasting criminals on the roof. Once the area was clear, I infiltrated the bank, took out the robbers, and rescued the hostages. After reaching the safe, I followed their leader into the sewer, chasing him while avoiding a series of traps.

Even though I was aware of SiN, I had never played the original, so my overall reaction was regret that I had not played it sooner.

Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch

Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch is a side-scrolling beat ’em up set in the View Askewniverse. It combines elements of classic beat ’em ups like The Simpsons arcade game, while packing in jokes from the films along with numerous homages to Street Fighter II. Players take on the role of Jay or Silent Bob and fight through stages inspired by iconic locations from Kevin Smith’s films featuring the legendary duo. Beyond the locations and setting, the fighting moves, combos, special attacks, and one-liners are all nods to the franchise’s rich history.

During my playthrough, I demoed the first stage as Silent Bob. It begins at the Quick Stop, which has been overrun by teenagers who ransacked the shop and taken Dante Hicks prisoner. After rescuing him, he tells us that Randal Graves has also been kidnapped, so we set out to save him as well. We fight through RST Video and onto the streets of Leonardo, New Jersey. Along the way, we battle a variety of foes, including Gen Zers, hipsters, and hockey players, while taking in storefronts like Brodie’s Secret Stash. The level ends with Jay and Silent Bob battling the final boss. Once defeated, it results in Dante being rescued and the level being cleared.

REPLACED

REPLACED is a game I got to play several times during my week at GDC, but it was at this showcase that I finally beat it. The story is set in an alternate 1980s America devastated by nuclear war. Players uncover the sinister secrets of the Phoenix Corporation through the eyes of its own creation, R.E.A.C.H., an AI trapped against its will in a human body. In this reimagined America, Phoenix City has become one of the corporation’s strongholds, along with a haven of corruption where outlaws thrive and human life is traded like currency.

The demo begins with R.E.A.C.H. assimilating with the player character, and the two must work together to escape the open road. Players make their way to safety while avoiding hunters and other threats. When enemies are encountered, the game shifts into combat, where players use a mix of hand-to-hand attacks and a firearm that needs time to charge. The demo acts as both a tutorial and an opportunity to learn the gameplay mechanics, as it tests your ability to overcome obstacles. It ends with a boss fight and a cliffhanger that leaves you excited for what comes next.

Bubsy 4D

Bubsy 4D is the long-anticipated follow-up to one of the pioneers of the 3D platformer genre. Players once again take on the role of the titular hero as he sets out to recover his Golden Fleece from an army of evil sheep that has taken over the Woolies’ world. To save the day, Bubsy must travel across different worlds and use the new moves he learns along the way to reclaim the stolen fleece.

I began my playthrough by exploring a VR world that helped me become more familiar with the gameplay. When it came time to play a level, I chose the first stage and started by racing across a bridge that had opened but would close once the timer ran out. After perhaps five attempts, I succeeded in crossing the bridge and advancing through the stage. I would then have to overcome a few obstacles and traps, before I made it to the end.
