After several months of rumors and speculation, the Oculus Quest 2 was officially unveiled during Facebook Connect.

Oculus Quest was the VR headset that bridged the gap between affordable models and the high powered headsets. Oculus Quest 2 will be a major improvement thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Platform that allows for higher AI capability. Visually it has a graphics processor that supports 90Hz and a display that features 1832 x 1920 pixels per eye.

The controllers will be an improvement over its predecessor as it’s built to offer better ergonomics. Quest 2 has been designed to be more lightweight than any other VR headset on the market.

Oculus Quest 2 will be available to purchase at major retailer starting on October 13th.

Facebook has also confirmed that it will be more focused on standalone VR headsets. They confirmed that they will stop focusing on PC-only headsets and will end sales of the Rift S in 2021. However, they will continue to support the Rift S platform.

Facebook Connect is a VR and AR industry digital event that is taking place on September 16th.
