It’s the start of a new year which could only mean the premier of a new batch of anime series on Crunchyroll.

The anime streaming service has announced a new batch of winter premiers and they are Boogiepop and Others, Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka, Meiji Tokyo Renk, WATATEN!: An Angel Flew Down to Me, Kemono Friends 2, along with Katana Maidens: Mini Toji.

Boogiepop and Others is based on the light novel and manga series of the same name. The story begins when Touka Miyashita encounters a stranger in a black cloak who has the face of his girlfriend. He confronts the stranger who reveals himself as Boogiepop and that he is hunting demons.

Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka is set in the aftermath of humanity making contact with the world of the dead. This results in monsters invading with no means of stopping them. Thanks to the Otherworld Trade Agreement, mankind gains an upper hand in the form of magical girls with immense powers.

Meiji Tokyo Renk follows the journey of Ayazuki Mei after she is lured by the mysterious Charlie into a box that takes her to the Meiji Period. With the help of Mori Ougai and Hishida Syunso, she will explore this era of history while trying to return to her time.

WATATEN!: an Angel Flew Down to Me can only be described as a sketch comedy all about trying to get along with the super cute girl. The story follows a shy college student who is trying to get along with her sisters friends.

Kemono Friends 2 follows two Friends (animals with human like appearances) who meet a human child. They invite the child to join them on their adventures to make new Friends and find food.

Katana Maidens: Mini Toji brings together characters from the animated series and the smartphone game for an offbeat story.

All shows listed will begin streaming on Crunchyroll (via directly or on VRV) in January 2019. Check them out and remember to #StayCrunchy.
