As the year comes to an end, it’s time to look back at the worst games of 2020. These are titles that either had high expectations only to be a total let down, failed to learn form past mistakes, or they didn’t offer any kind of enjoyment. The list will only focus on five titles since life is too short to be wasted on bad video games. Let us look back at the worst games of 2020, and sorry to anyone who purchased any of these.

5. Valorant

Valorant is Riot Games attempt to cash in on the trend set by Counter-Strike and Overwatch, long after every studio realized its futility. It takes the best elements from the best multiplayer shooters only to be something that doesn’t stand out. With so many better free to play multiplayer shooters, there really isn’t any need for a game this bland.

4. The Elder Scrolls: Blades (Switch)

The Elder Scrolls: Blades for the Nintendo Switch is a fine example of why no studio should bring their mobile game to the consoles. It attempts to bring the experience to the console but it still functions like a mobile game. This port was suppose to be appealing to Switch users who game on the go but ends up being a work of redundancy. In the end, it looses any appeal it has of being an enjoyable game.

3. Remothered: Broken Porcelain

Remothered: Broken Porcelain is a broken mess of a nightmare in regards to its convoluted story and broken experience. Tormented Fathers was a horror masterpiece and one of our favorite games of 2018. So it breaks our heart to see the sequel / prequel released in such a poor state. Hopefully the lessons learned could be used when making the third game in the series.

P.A.M.E.L.A. 8Bit/Digi

2. P.A.M.E.L.A.

Following in the footsteps of System Shock, P.A.M.E.L.A. blends the gameplay of an RPG experience with elements of modern horror survival in a cyberpunk world. It has an experience to offer that is unfortunately buried under a pile of glitches and performance issues. It’s an ambitious project that did so much right but failed to fix the performance problems.

1. Resident Evil: Resistance

Resident Evil: Resistance is both a missed opportunity and a waste of resources. Capcom once again tries to make multiplayer Resident Evil a thing by imitating what every is popular (instead of remaking Outbreak). Doing so also meant resources were taken away from the development of the Resident Evil 3 remake (resulting in a very short game). If anyone in Capcom spent a minute in any Resident Evil forum or fan group, they would know that nobody has every enjoyed the series attempts at multiplayer (with the exception of Outbreak).

A missed opportunity, a butchered remake and a game nobody asked for makes Resident Evil: Resistance the worst game of 2020.

Correction: An earlier version of this article only listed 4 games instead of 5. That was an oversight on my part the Editor and the list has been updated. Thank you to all who pointed this out.
