Kit 9 Studios has unveiled the latest challenges in the development of the next episodes of The Coffin of Andy and Leyley.
According to Progress Report #9, the gameplay that was recently completed was fully reviewed with special attention needed for the new division between episodes 3A and 4.
Previously, the amount of game-related content needed to execute the script expanded was beyond its container, so it was decided that a large part of Episode 3 should be split off into a fourth episode. The problem is finding a transition point. At the moment they feel there is no satisfying end point between the episodes. It is likely that the two episodes will need to be shipped together as a result.
Because of this new roadblock, no release date can be determined for either the full game or the next episode.
The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is a horror adventure game that blends elements of a psychological thriller with those of a dark comedy. The story follows siblings Andrew and Ashley Graves trying to survive a quarantine by taking drastic measures.
The game started as a project released on Itch.io before launching on Steam in Early Access. No launch date has been set but the goal is to have a full launch sometime in 2024.
