During the 2025 Game Developers Conference, Nightdive Studios announced the launch date of the System Shock 2 remaster.

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is set to launch on June 26th, 2025. It will be available for the PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles along with the PC. The PC version will be available through Steam and GOG.

Additional information about the game will become available during the week of GDC 2025.

System Shock 2 is a direct sequel to the acclaimed horror game, introducing new gameplay elements. Set 42 years after the original, players control a soldier aboard the Von Braun, an FTL starship on its maiden voyage. After awakening from deep-space hibernation, they discover the ship overrun by a parasitic bioweapon that was engineered by S.H.O.D.A.N.

The game was released for PC in 1999 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest games of all time. It later inspired two spiritual successors, Deus Ex and BioShock.

A remake of the first game was released for the PC in 2023 followed by a console launch in 2024. Check out our review of the remake to have an idea about the series.
