Big news for Gundam fans as Crunchyroll has announced it’s bringing Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and Cucuruz Doan’s Island to Blu-Ray in September.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Season 1 and Season 2  will be available on the Crunchyroll Store on September 10th. Both sets will include all 12 episodes of their respective season. Also included will be textless opening and ending songs plus promotional videos. Both sets will be released in a steelbook case.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island will be available on the Crunchyroll Store on September 10th. The Blu-Ray will include promo Videos along with a panel interview with the director and the Japanese voice cast.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury is set in a galaxy where mega-corporations have dominated space. The story follows Suletta Mercury, a Spacian who can pilot mobile suits using GUND Format technology. After enrolling in a prestigious academy, she is dragged into the school’s inner politics while having to confront greater forces at work.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island is a retelling of the infamous episode from the original series while retconning its place in the lore. Following a botched clean-up operation around the Canary Islands, Amuro Ray awakens in a shack surrounded by a group of children and their guardian, an ex-Zeon officer named Cucuruz Doan. Their relationship is tense at first but when Doan’s old unit returns for payback, they have to work together to protect the children. 

Gundam is a media franchise that follows an interstellar conflict involving mobile suits. The franchise includes the main series followed by numerous spin-offs along with video games and models. The main series is set in the Universal Century timeline (U.C.) while The Witch From Mercury is set in the Ad Stella timeline (A.S.).

Crunchyroll is the largest anime streaming service, having been credited for introducing the medium to a greater audience. It’s also active in the fandom community with its support for major and local anime conventions.
