Two JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure cosplay gatherings are being organized at the de Young Museum in honor of Hirohiko Araki’s work, featured as part of the Art of Manga exhibition.

The Art of Manga exhibition is set to premiere at the de Young Museum starting on September 27th 2025, and will conclude on January 25th, 2026. It will feature the works Chiba Tetsuya, Akatsuka Fujio, Takahashi Rumiko, Taniguchi Jiro, Yamazaki Mari, Araki Hirohiko, Yamashita Kazumi, Tagame Gengoroh, Yoshinaga Fumi, Oda Eiichiro, and Tanaami Keiichi.

In honor of Hirohiko Araki’s work being featured, a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure cosplay gathering will be held on September 27 at 2 p.m. and again on October 25 at 1 p.m. The gathering is free to attend, but those interested in touring the exhibit can receive a $5 discount on their Art of Manga ticket by using code DYCOSPLAY at checkout.

These gatherings are not officially organized by the de Young Museum but are encouraged and supported by its staff.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the longest running manga series, and it’s been highly praised as one of the best by critics, along with fans. The story follows different generations of the Joestar family as they battle supernatural forces. The most iconic was Part 3: Stardust Crusaders, which featured the debut of Jotaro Kujo and the return of Dio Brando.

The next season of the anime adaptation, Steel Ball Run, is set to premiere sometime in 2026.

The de Young Museum, located in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, presents artistic exhibitions from around the world. Founded in 1895, it is celebrated for its striking architecture, dynamic exhibitions, and diverse cultural programming nationwide.
