Looking back at the best games of 2025 that did not get the attention they deserved from either critics or fans, but we enjoyed them.

The year has seen the launch of groundbreaking works and some awful train wrecks. At the same time, there have been some missed gems. 2025 has had a great number of titles that have been overlooked by most of the community. For every hit game that pushed the medium to its limit or failed, there will be those that are overlooked.
These are games that were good but did not get the attention they deserved. This could be due to being released at a bad time or limited marketing. Yet we have not forgotten about these great games that you should have played.
These are our favorite overlooked titles of 2025:

Blade Chimera will grab your attention with its captivating style while keeping you engaged with its experience. It’s a Metroidvania game that avoids the pitfalls that plague the genre. The gameplay is engaging, offering variety in combat that challenges players to adapt and develop their own style. All of this unfolds within a vibrant world with anime style visuals and cyberpunk aesthetics.

For fans of Kotaro Uchikoshi’s work, 2025 has been a standout year due to the launch of The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- and No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files. But before that, the year saw the launch of the remasters of Never 7 – The End of Infinity and Ever 17 – The Out of Infinity.
Never 7: The End of Infinity is a remaster of the first game in the Infinity series, giving players the chance to experience the origins of the franchise. This entry lays the foundation for the games that follow, establishing key themes and narrative elements. At its core, it’s an emotionally driven journey, as players relive a cycle of hardships in a desperate attempt to save someone special.
Ever 17 – The Out of Infinity was not only the second game in the Infinity series but also one of the greatest visual novels of the 2000s. The remaster allows fans the opportunity to experience it once again or for the first time. Players can dive into the second game in the Infinity series and enjoy its emotionally driven narrative, enhanced by sci-fi elements. The game also boasts improved gameplay mechanics and visuals, elevating the overall experience.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered is a standout entry that allows players a true Gundam story experience while being a nostalgic callback to the golden age of Gundam games on the PlayStation 2. Players can relive the stories of Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny from multiple perspectives, all while commanding a rich roster of mobile suits and characters from the C.E. timeline.

AI Limit is a game that got my attention because of how much it reminded me of Code Vein. On the surface, they share many similarities as both are Soulslike games with anime visuals set in a bleak, post-apocalyptic world. However, beneath the surface, they offer distinct experiences that bring something unique to the player. AI Limit delivers a classic Soulslike experience set in a familiar world that is rich in its own deep lore. Players awaken in a familiar world while details about the story are slowly fed. The combat and gameplay mechanics are easy to learn for those who play Soulslike games. Bringing this world to life is the anime style visuals.

Flesh Made Fear is a love letter to classic survival horror by blending the elements of Resident Evil with the aesthetics and camp of Creepshow. From its cast of characters and grotesque monsters to its eerie, explorable world navigated with tank controls, the game is a clear love letter to true survival horror. The developers at Tainted Pack Games make no effort to hide their passion for the genre, and that enthusiasm shines through in every aspect of the experience.
