Following a long hiatus, a new trailer for Homefront: The Revolution has been unveiled along with the announcement of a Holiday 2016 release for all major Next-Gen consoles and the PC.

The trailer was unveiled at Gamescom 2016 and it depicts an American child giving a propaganda speech while North Korean troops terrorize the residents of Philadelphia. Near the end it features members of the American Resistance fighting back against the occupation.

A gameplay video was also featured at the event along with an announcement that Xbox One gamers will have access to a multiplayer beta in Winter 2016. It has also been confirmed that the game will be released for all Next-Gen consoles and the PC during the 2016 Holiday season.

This is the first real announcement about Homefront: The Revolution after Deep Silver took over the project back in Summer 2014. Crytek was forced abandon the project and sell the Homefront IP due to financial problems along with a mass exodus of key staff members.

Homefront: The Revolution is a reboot along with a continuation of the original game that follows the efforts of the American resistance fighting against the occupation of the country by the Greater Korean Republic (a united Korea under the rule of Kim Jong-un).
